The Essence of Magic.

The Essence of Magic – by Rosa Derriviere

What is Magic? According to Aleister Crowley “Magik is the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with will”.

This means with directed will, you can accomplish your intent. “Magic is the art of changing consciousness at will”. By applying, your Imagination, and visualising the end result of your purpose or intention a picture of what you want is created and “Energy follows thought”.

The Tarot Cards can be a great help to clarify that picture and scent, brings it vividly to mind through associated memories.
The other important element to consider is emotion the feeling that underlies the desire to accomplish your intent. Our emotions are the engine, that drives our will. Fear, can block the positive flow of feelings, whether it is fear of failure or of success either way the energy and thought behind the intention needs to be positive for the magic to work.

Essential oils, affirmation, and candles are used in the art of magic. Once you have created your “Sacred space” and your tools are at hand its then a matter of directing your single-focused will, upon an image that you’ve clearly visualized as already accomplished, on the earth plane such as a new Job or a positive outcome to a given situation

So what do you do with the oils? According to many mystics any act performed with intention becomes a ritual. The oils are used to burn, and or to anoint candles. Using colour for example enhances what you want to create. Whether you visualize the colour through meditation, or select a coloured candle, choosing the colour that corresponds, to the area of your life you intend to enhance. Do remember WITHOUT awareness and positive intention you only have empty gestures. So be Mindful as well as Creative

The power and Use of Colour
White – Purity, Understanding spirituality.
Red – Stimulates, empowers passion, strengthening.
Orange – Sociable, Fun, Re – connects to the self. “Self Love”
Yellow – Organisation, Discipline, Clarity of thought.
Blue – Spirituality, Understanding, Communication, patience.
Pink – Love, reconnecting to the heart healing, loving relationships.
Green – Balance, Harmony, health, prosperity.
Purple – Intuition, personal power, Clairvoyance higher self.
Black – Constriction, protection, Endings
Gold – High levels of consciousness Soul’s path. High level protection.

The Ancient Wisdom of the Tarot
I will only talk about 4 cards here, to conclude, as in the future I’ll be writing a more in-depth piece for you all to read about “The fools Journey” this will include The Arcana and their corresponding Oils.

The first Card that comes to mind is the Magician. This card depicts total attention, concentrated on a single purpose while the High Priestess demonstrates how to relax and centre the emotion in perfect balance. The Empress shows how imagination creates a desire image filled with sensory detail whilst the Emperor projects the force of will balanced by impersonal emotion in perfect balance. These are the first four cards of the Major Arcana (Not including the Fool).

You don’t have to do anything elaborate to create a ritual or – on the other hand you can incorporate all manner of Esoteric tools. Such as casting a sacred circle of salt, and calling upon an ancient god or goddesses whilst Burning incenses. Planetary aspects need to be considered also. The Moon’s Phases, are important factors to consider to maximise results. The new moon, traditionally is for invoking new ideas and projects, whilst the full moon, is to bring them into end. All these factors are an important part in creating “Magic.” However elaborate, formal rituals can intensify the effectiveness of your work, to obtain the results you want.

Hope you’ve enjoyed reading about “Ancient Wisdom” in Modern times.

Warm Wishes,

New Moon in Pisces….15th March

From the last Full Moon In Virgo on the 28th February we are now approaching the New Moon in Pisces, the last Sign of the Zodiac signifying the end of a cycle. The Zodiac Wheel begins with Aries, and considered “The baby” of the zodiac,  and ends with Pisces .  As we journey  through each sign( Much like the  Major arcana of the Tarot)  we evolve and learn spiritual lessons that the previous sign  hasn’t. Think of it like the stages we go through from birth to toddler- to- youth to- teenager and so on….( esoteric)

New Moons are a time for  initiation. Starting a new project or  any thoughts or ideas  you may have or are thinking about….. write them down. Perhaps you’re looking for a new job? or  a new abode.Maybe you need to invite some fresh vibrant energy into your life.  ASK.!…..  Working, with  “Cosmic Law” (although nothing’s set in stone ) can be a powerful way to manifest your wishes.  What you begin at this time,  may well  start to bear fruit at the next  Full moon  in Libra on the 30th March.( More about that later…. ) Perhaps this can be a time to  Gently  close the door on a cycle or  situation that feels like it’s come to an end! Feeling is key… as Pisces being a  water sign, puts us more in touch with our intuition and our own  Psychic ability.  Experiment if this is a new concept for you?    look for answers within…. allow your inner Voice to come through, and  don’t question that first feeling, as  it’s usually the right one ! ……And  If all fails, (although i believe, that there’s no such thing) or-  this is just NOT your bag…… No worries…..  We are all Gods creatures great and Small!

Happy, Dreamy, Imaginative, Creative  Fun  New Moon !

What are the key trends shaping our lives and businesses in 2010? Scary, that’s what.

Interesting times

15 February 2010 | By Robert Bain

What are the key trends shaping our lives and businesses in 2010? Scary, that’s what.

There was an odd atmosphere last Friday morning as a group of about 50 people invited by Hall & Partners gathered for breakfast in a private room at London’s exclusive Ivy restaurant.

As we sat quietly trying not to let our spoons clink too loudly against our fruit salad bowls, a panel of speakers at the front of the room spoke of the danger, uncertainty and austerity that lies ahead for us.

The event was billed as a discussion on the key forces shaping our lives and businesses in 2010 and beyond, which, as it turns out, is a pretty frightening topic.

The Economist’s Tom Standage kicked things off by holding up the current issue of his magazine, the cover of which shows a man making his way gingerly across a rickety rope bridge, with the headline ‘New dangers for the world economy’.

The economic shock may be over, but the long recovery lies ahead. “The best scenario,” said Standage as the audience tucked into their cinnamon whirls, “is that we have years of horrible austerity”.

More coffee anyone?

Tamar Kasriel of trend tracking consultancy Futureal suggested that the nonchalant atmosphere in the room might reflect a wider trend. “We’ve got used to the discourse of apocalypse,” she said. “Think about some of the headlines a year ago – and we’re still going out and having nice breakfasts.”

So how are people changing amid the economic turmoil? John Owen of digital marketing agency Dare said the internet and social media have actually accelerated a trend toward individualism. People’s enthusiasm for ‘supporting a cause’ on Facebook with a single click (and then forgetting about it) would seem to be the exception that proves the rule.

On a more optimistic note, the economic crisis has pushed people to seek personal fulfilment through avenues other than the accumulation of stuff. There’s a growing focus on spirituality and personal happiness.

To cover this side of things, the business and marketing commentators on the panel ceded the floor to psychic and astrologist Rosa Derriviere. After having to be put right by Standage on the date that Uranus was discovered (for the record it’s 1781, not 1930 – that was Pluto), Derriviere went on to say some very sensible things about the renewed focus on spirituality. “During these difficult times we have to look within,” she said. “It’s always been there – there’s nothing ‘new age’ about any of this. People go back to their values when times get rough.”

This trend towards the spiritual can seem strange when viewed through the prism of new technology. Standage cited the movie Avatar as an example of a high tech phenomenon urging a return to nature and spirituality. “My wife has meditation apps on her iPhone,” he said.

So what does all this mean for brands and marketing? First of all, what consumers look for in brands is changing. In the same way that people are taking refuge in spirituality, they are also looking to brands to offer something reliable and steadfast amid the chaos.

John Owen said marketing practitioners also need to respond more quickly to changes in behaviour brought on by the rise of social media. Although debate continues as to whether social media should belong to the marketing department, the research department, the IT department, or all of the above, it definitely needs to be handled by somebody.

“Marketing is a more labour intensive effort now,” said Owen. “Marketing directors are asking the wrong questions – they’re asking for more media budget. What they should be asking for is five more people. Advertising doesn’t work as well as it did, and never will, but we’ve all been slow to change because it’s tricky and painful to change. But now we have to.”
